Invest, Work or Retire in Mauritius
Mauritius welcomes non-citizens to come and invest or work in a
now opened economy.
The Occupation Permit allows an eligible
non-citizen to live and work in Mauritius for up to three years. A complete
application submitted to the Board of Investment is determined within three
working days. An application can be made under any of the following categories:
| Investor:

The business activity should generate an annual turnover exceeding Rs. 3
million;

| Professional:
|
The basic salary of the professional should exceed Rs. 30,000 a month;
|
| Self-employed:
|
Income from the self-employed business activity should exceed Rs. 600,000
annually. |
The Residence Permit for retired non-citizen is a
permit that allows an eligible retired non-citizen to reside in Mauritius for
three years. To be eligible, the retired non-citizen must undertake to transfer
to his/her local bank account in Mauritius, at least 40,000 US dollars
annually, or its equivalent in convertible foreign currency, for his own living
expenses in Mauritius.
Applicants under all categories may be eligible for a Permanent Residence
Permit after three years. A Permanent Residence Permit is valid for 10 years.
To qualify, the investor must have generated an annual turnover exceeding Rs 15
million. The professional must have earned a basic monthly salary of at least
Rs 150,000. The self-employed must have generated an annual income exceeding Rs
3 million. The retired non-citizen must have transferred at least 40,000 USD
every year for three years.
